Back in 2016, Oppo launched the first 20W VOOC (Voltage Open Loop Multi-step Constant-Current Charging) Charger, and it was quite different from Qualcomm Quick charge (QC) solution. Oppo's proprietary VOOC fash charging solution draws both Current and Voltage at a similar level. Whereas, Qualcomm's Quick charge solution usually draws a high amount of Voltage and a relatively lesser amount of current to charge the supported devices. For example, to produce 20W of output, Oppo's VOOC charger draws current and voltage at 5V/4A, and for similar 18W of output, QC enabled charger draws current and voltage at 9V/2A.

Year after year, Oppo stepped up their fast charging solution to 30W, 50W, and finally last year, they introduced SuperVOOC 2.0 charger, which can deliver 65W of output at 10V/6.5A. The 65W fast charger can fully charge a 4000 mAh battery from 0 to 100% in less than 35 minutes. Seems impressive right, these fast chargers have made our lives much easier, with a quick top-up of 15 minutes we can use our smartphones continuously for hours.
Oppo has announced that they are all set to unveil the world's first 125W fast charger on July 15th. Not kidding, a charger that can deliver a whopping 125W of output, if Oppo can make this commercially viable, then you can fully charge your smartphone with a typical 4000 mAh battery in under 20 minutes. Earlier, we heard some rumors that Oppo will unveil an 80W fast charging solution, but Oppo went all way down to a 125W fast charging solution, which is almost twice their existing 65W solution.
Oppo must have faced huge challenges to develop a charger which can deliver an output of 125W, and we are yet to know about what kind of cooling solution, Oppo has incorporated in this charger to maintain the thermals. We also expect Oppo to unveil more details about voltage and current proportions drawn to generate 125W of output, live demos, and commercial availability of the charger on their July 15th event.
